I really like the metaphor you thought of for that instance that you feel your fat burning. I never really tried observing my bodily functions after a hearty meal but after reading your post, I think I'll have to be more observant next time. I'll bet it will be such a wondrous experience for me, too.

lol! no torture involved! I am happy to report that I had two giant amazing salads today and I am full of energy and feel so light!
This is a great recipe the crunching is so amazing...it slows down the pace of eating so perfectly. I could actually feel the digestive juices start flowing! Yeah for proper digestion and boundless energy!

Well after talking with you today. I would encourage people to find their problem food. What are your high calorie foods that you may be overeating. For me we decided it was hummus. Man is it good but I was eating 1/4 to a 1/2 tub in one sitting. Better to have a plate of carrots with 2 TBS of hummus. This is a reasonable portion. And the other point is that this is meant as a dip! Not something to be eaten by the spoonful.
I can't wait to see this tip accelerate the burn!

Dr. Berzow, that is a GREAT question. Of course fresh is always best but let's face it, fresh is not always available, at every moment, due to a variety of reasons. I believe that everyone should not only stock canned veggies (mason jars are always best) and frozen food too, but they should also know how to prepare meals out of a pantry, because we just never know where the world is going to be in the future. It is said that those who prepare never have anything to worry about. So let's prepare and be proficient!

I am so happy that you posted these comments about raw vs. cooked foods. my parents live in NY and are often telling me about the lack of fresh fruits and vegetables in the winter. I will have to tell them to go for what they can find and it is okay to go with soups or steamed veggies.
How do you feel about using frozen or canned veggies for those folks who cannot access as much fresh, live food?

Thanks so much! It's very comforting to know it doesn't need to be so "all or nothing". It was also wonderful to hear that cooked veggies also have life and benefit. I'll definitely start that way and work my way back to more of a raw diet in the future....much appreciated :)

Pamela, I totally hear you on the cold vegetable aversion in the winter. I can't do it every day myself. I have to go for lightly steamed or sauteed. Some days I make a vegetable soup. It is perfectly fine to eat your veggies cooked right now as you start again. This also slows down the detox process which can be very uncomfortable in the beginning if you eat a lot of raw food.

I don't believe it is good for the body to eat cold food all the time, especially in the winter. The body needs warm foods too.

David Wolfe wrote a book, "Eating for Beauty" and he shows Kirlian photos of raw and cooked food. "Kirlian photographs capture the electromagnetic radiation patterns emitted by objects across a wide spectrum of electromagnetic energy." They basically show the life in the objects.

I was surprised to see that the cooked foods photographed with Kirlian photography still contained energy sparks; you could see the life even in the cooked food. After I saw those photos a few years ago, I changed my mind about what I had previously thought about cooked foods being dead.

Real foods, even when cooked, definitely have nutritional value. And some vegetables like carrots are better to eat when lightly steamed because you can absorb the nutrients better. You want to keep the cooking of the vegetables to a quick saute or lightly steamed to retain the most nutrients.

Yes, you can most certainly lose weight eating the cooked vegetables. Make sure they dominate your plate and if you do this, you will drop the weight, naturally and easily.

I hope this helps. :-)

Thank you, Rachel!

Just fruit in the morning doesn't sound bad...I've tried to stick to some kind of loose version of the LWP throughout the years, especially when motivated to lose weight. I think my biggest issue at the moment is problems sticking with raw foods during the colder seasons...I'm in NYC and it's cold out there right now! That makes me want warm foods, making salads and fruits a bit unappealing...maybe fruit with protein would satisfy that need? Is it possible to lose weight eating cooked vegetables instead of raw ones throughout the day? I realize the nutritional value is not equal but I think I could stick to that a bit better until Spring rolls around....although I do want to lose this extra weight but don't know if forcing myself to eat something I don't want (even if it's good for my body) is the way to go....
Sorry, I know I'm all over the place but, yes, sugar is also a weakness for me, as is coffee, but I'm trying to curb both...any help would be appreciated :)
